Aaron Musser (he/they) is a theologian, educator, and musician rooted in the Lutheran tradition and committed to queer and decolonial approaches to Christian life. He holds a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Religion from St. Olaf College. Aaron is the founder of ChurchAffirm, a consulting and education initiative that supports LGBTQIA+ belonging through theological training, justice-based advocacy, and congregational coaching.

A South Dakota native, Aaron’s formation has unfolded across a wide spectrum of communities—from outdoor ministry camps and small urban parishes to seminary classrooms and choral ensembles. They have served as a church musician and worship leader in Milwaukee and Chicago, designed curricula for congregational and adult education, and led Bible studies, retreats, and liturgies that center marginalized voices. Their preaching and teaching are informed by critical theory, queer theology, and a Lutheran commitment to grace, mutuality, and liberation.

They currently live in northern Illinois, where they enjoy forest trails, board games, and the music of Brandi Carlile.
